Reducing Email – the never ending quest

Wednesday, July 16th, 2008

Just like controlling clutter on your desk or managing your time better, it is always a good idea to be reminded of controlling the cluster in our email Inbox too.

The Hamster Revolution https://catalog.kcls.org/record=b2111026 is a book recently reviewed in an email newsletter that clutters my inbox – I mean that I get – each week! (I am not including a link to the newsletter as my way of cutting your inbox clutter!)

In the article it mentioned that if you can reduce your email by 20% you will gain back 15 days of productivity!

Here are a few tips that were included in the article:

NRR – No Response Required.  If you do not need an answer or for them to acknowledge they have received the message.  End with NRR.

Prioritize the message in the subject line:

  • P1:  Response required within 24 hours.
  • P2:  Response required within 24 hours.
  • P3:  Information no response required.
